Where do I get an application?
Who is eligible for a scholarship?
All students (grades K-12) who will attend a Hawaii Catholic School during the upcoming school year. You don’t have to be currently enrolled to apply for a scholarship, but you do need to be officially enrolled at the time the scholarship is awarded.
How much are the scholarships?
The amount of the tuition scholarship varies from year to year. In the past, the scholarships awarded were $1,000 (grades K-8) and $1,250 (grades 9-12).
Do I have to make a certain amount of money to apply for a scholarship?
No, any family can apply for a scholarship. A priority is given to financially needy families.
What if I am applying for more than one student or to different Catholic schools?
One application per family, even if the children attend different schools or you are applying to different schools. Pick one of the schools you are applying to and put that school on your application.
Do I have to be Catholic to apply?
No, you do not need to be Catholic to apply. Families, regardless of religious affiliation, can apply.
Can students from public schools apply?
Yes, if they intend to enroll in a Hawaii Catholic School in the upcoming school year.
Do I have to reapply each year?
Yes, you must reapply for a tuition scholarship each year.
Why do I have to pay $23?
The $23 covers the cost of processing and evaluating your scholarship application by Private School Aid Service (PSAS).
Do I have to pay the $23 fee for each student applicant?
Fees are assessed on a per family basis, not a per student basis. A family with two or more student applicants, would still pay $23.
What if I cannot afford to pay the $23 processing fee?
Please call the Foundation directly at (808) 203-6748 to request a voucher.
When do I find out if I will receive a scholarship?
All applicants will be notified by letter on or shortly after April 30 if they will or will not receive a scholarship.
Will I receive a check for the scholarship if I am approved?
The scholarship check will be sent directly to your child’s school for credit to the tuition account on or shortly after September 30. Please be sure to check your child’s tuition account at the end of October to ensure the scholarship has been posted.
What if I am divorced, separated or never married?
The primary parent completes and submits the PSAS application.
How do I submit my application?
We highly encourage all applicants to submit their application on-line, directly to PSAS via the on-line application portal - http://www.psas.org/HI01.aspx. If that is not possible, you may complete the application with the Fill-In PDF Application Form and mail it in. Fill-In PDF Applications Forms are available on our website.
How do I submit my documents?

If you completed and submitted your application on-line, directly to PSAS, you have three ways:

If you completed your application with the Fill-In PDF Application Form, you will print your completed application and mail the completed application, required documents and $23 fee (check or money order only, payable to Private School Aid Service) to:

What are your deadlines?
March 4, 2016 -Completed applications, required documents and $23 application fee are due to PSAS
April 30, 2016 - Notification letters are sent out informing you if you will or will not be receiving a tuition scholarship
September 30, 2016 - Tuition Scholarship checks are sent to schools for credit to student’s tuition account
REMINDER - Please keep a copy of your completed application and documents. This is especially important if you use the Fill-In PDF Application Form.
